I am reading the book “Understanding Vietnam”. I am quite interested with poet of the past days like Le Dat and Phan Khoi. When reading the book, there is a funny poem quoted:

Human Lives, which can attain a hundred years,

Are like pots of lime

The longer the life, the more mediocrity

The longer the life, the smaller one becomes.

I don’t know what is “pots of lime” (In English translation), So i tried to find the original poem in Vietnamese. Amazed from what I found, i decided to quote & reup the full poem here for future retrospect.

I spent the whole day searching for this essay online but found no useful link. I was quite deseprate so that I even thought of visiting some library for the original magazine where the original article was printed. Fortunately, a very great, young, brilliant essayist in Spiderum kindly share me the link.

His/her account was: “Paracetamol Hôn Môi Xa” (@trinhnnattuan). His/her link was given below, which I guess to be his/her website

A long analysis on Vietname intellectuals and cultures that I read 10 years ago. The bullet point / most important takeaway is that the need for a clear distinguish between the thinkers and the politician in Vietnamese society. This article had influenced me for a pretty long time.

I re-up it here, in case the main website got shutdown or something bad happend. You can visit the original link below:

The original post was written by a drunk, but senior data engineer on the topic of career in software development. I think it is very valuable for me and developers in general so I reup it here.

Below are what he wrote, not mine:

Drunk Post: Things I’ve learned as a Sr Engineer

I’m drunk and I’ll probably regret this, but here’s a drunken rank of things I’ve learned as an engineer for the past 10 years.

10 Lessons of an MIT Education

Son Nguyen Hoang:
There is no chance that I can write this article. This is a re-up from an online archive. Here is the original link:

Lesson One: You can and will work at a desk for seven hours straight, routinely. For several years, I have been teaching 18.30, differential equation, the largest mathematics course at MIT, with more than 300 students. The lectures have been good training in dealing with mass behavior. Every sentence must be perfectly enunciated, preferably twice. Examples on the board must be relevant, if not downright fascinating. Every 15 minutes or so, the lecturer is expected to come up with an interesting aside, joke, historical anecdote, or unusual application of the concept at hand. When a lecturer fails to conform to these inexorable requirements, the students will signify their displeasure by picking by their books and leaving the classroom.
